BEAUTY SPECIALIST CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

The CCTFA Beauty Specialist Certification Program (BSCP) will help you achieve those goals. The BSCP is an online certification program that will ensure you have the most accurate information in order to assist your customers with confidence.

The BSCP will provide you with the knowledge and information that is required to be considered competent in specific areas of your occupation. The program will help you:

  • Understand how cosmetics are regulated in Canada and why they are safe
  • Provide your customers with credible, reliable and accessible information related to the safety of the products they use
  • Challenge inaccurate information and rumours regarding cosmetics

The BSCP curriculum combines theory and research with practical experience to prepare you for the kinds of questions you will receive from your customers. The program is available only in an online learning format and can be accessed via the CCTFA Learning Management System. It includes frequent self-assessment activities, which will be presented throughout the course. It also includes an exam at the end of each course and at the completion of the entire program.

What is the Program Availability?
All course content has been developed with the assistance of experts in each area of training. The first three courses will be available by Mid / Late 2010 and the remaining courses completion date is to be determined.

Courses available in Mid / Late 2010

  • Product Safety
    • This course explores Canada’s cosmetic labelling standards as well as how product safety is monitored. You will learn how product directions, warnings and cautions contribute to overall product safety, as well as understand regulations surrounding product claims. You’ will also discover smart ways to promote safe and hygienic product use.

  • Science of Cosmetics
    • This course provides you with a basic level of knowledge with respect to the science behind personal care products. This course begins with a quick overview of skin basics and its connections to cosmetics. You will then learn interesting facts regarding the range of ingredients used in products. Finally, the course will take an inside look at product testing.

  • Fragrance and Sensitivity
    • The Fragrance and Sensitivity Course begins with an overview of the role that scents play in our world. This course also explores what goes into fragrances and teaches the differences between fragrance sensitivities and allergies. Practical information is also offered on how to best wear and use fragrances. By the end of this course, you will be able to confidently talk to your customers about the world of fragrance and sensitivity.
  • The courses will be accessible primarily through the CCTFA on-line Learning Management System (LMS) that will register users, process payment, track completion results and generate reports
